test facilities. Heating value tests are conducted less frequently and only at independent labs, but low moisture content is a
good indicator of a high heating value product.
Premium wood pellets must meet the standards of <1% ash content and <8% moisture content. These values typically correspond
to a heating value (as received) of 7700-7800 BTU/lb.
